Online courses are one of the best ways coaches and service business owners can add a new income stream and scale their business.
Creating an online course, though? Not only does it take a lot of time, but it can be expensive too. Between choosing a topic, outlining the course, and creating content, it's not exactly a walk in the park if you do everything yourself. Before you start getting nervous, I’ve got you covered with a little secret: PLR products.
Read on as I show you how you can create and sell a course in minutes (yes, minutes) thanks to PLR.
What is PLR?
PLR (Private Label Rights) is any type of content that gives you the right to edit, change, or modify it to suit your needs. Some sites vary the limitations of these rights, but the intent is the same.
The magic of PLR is that it allows you to alter it however you want. For example, take a ready-to-go online course kit, like the ones I sell here at Content Sparks. You can take the provided PLR articles in the Lead Generation Materials and use them as-is on your blog if you like.
However, you can also take that article and break it into little pieces to use as daily tips on your Facebook page. You could also combine the blog posts together into a longer report, or even enhance them with other articles to create a complete ebook.
And that's just taking one small part of the content provided in our full course kits! You can customize and put your name on the full course and teach it as your own – either to current customers and clients, to new prospects, or as a paid program for brand new customers.
5 Steps to Create a Successful Course That Sells – Using PLR
Sold on PLR? Good, now let’s walk through an easy five-step process to create and launch a course with PLR:
- Choose a niche
- Choose a course
- Rebrand and customize
- Create your course sales page
- Build a course launch plan
Choose a Niche
First, you need to choose a niche for your course. If you’ve never created a course before, I recommend starting with your audience:
- What problems do they have?
- What challenges are they trying to overcome?
- What are they interested in?
- What are you already coaching them on?
Ask yourself these questions and you’ll find the right niche for your course. By focusing on your target audience, you give your course a much better chance of succeeding.
I have tons of different PLR products in my shop that you can browse to find the right niche.
Choose a Course
Next, it’s time to select a PLR course that you will use as the foundation for the course you sell to your audience.

Rebrand and Customize Your PLR Course
Once you’ve purchased your PLR course, it’s time to customize it to match your voice, tone, and brand. While the PLR courses in my shop will be ready to sell within minutes, it helps to personalize them a bit to match your unique spin on things.
Here are three quick tips for branding PLR content:
- Put your name on it: We’ve been creating professional content for training and marketing for over 30 years, so we’re confident that you’ll be more than happy to put your name on it. Add your logo, include your website URL, and give people the opportunity to connect with you on Social Media. Make it your own!
- Incorporate your brand: This means using your brand colors, fonts, or anything else that your customers typically associate with your business to keep your content consistent with your brand identity. I'll often give my courses a snazzy title, but feel free to select a name for your course that matches your unique brand. There's a link to download a guide further below.
- Tweak it for your target market: We’re willing to bet you know your customer pretty well. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to edit Content Sparks content so that it speaks directly to them. This might mean adding a story, inserting your own opinion, or changing a few examples. Whatever changes you make, it’s worth taking a little time to help build an emotional connection with your specific audience.
- Figure out what to charge: Next, you need to determine how to price your course. For instance, will it be a lower-ticket offer or a premium bundle of content? This will partly depend on the PLR product(s) you choose and how many customizations you make.
Now that your PLR course is rebranded, it’s time to launch it!

Create a Course Sales Page
First, you need a course sales page designed to convert visitors into buyers. Course sales pages come in all shapes and sizes, but the most successful ones have the following components:
- Headline: You need a clear and concise headline that entices your reader to keep scrolling down the page (and purchase).
- Course description: Every sales page needs a course description so your audience knows what they are buying and how valuable it is.
- Case studies: Case studies, testimonials, and other forms of social proof go a long way to motivating your customers to make a purchase.
- CTAs (calls to action): Asking for the sale might seem intimidating, but you need to do it… a lot! CTAs throughout the page will catch your reader’s eye and encourage them to purchase.
- Instructor bio: Your customers want to know who is buying from them, so a quick bio does the trick to introduce yourself and establish a personal connection with your audience.
- FAQs: Any information that does not fit the above is usually a good candidate for the FAQ section. Here you can address common questions and include information that may be helpful but does not fit into the above categories.

Build a Course Launch Plan
With a course sales page in hand, it’s time to build a launch plan to share your course with the world.
Thanks to the magic of PLR, launching your course is the “hardest” part. It’s also the most important part as a launch can make or break your course. If you’ve never launched a course before, check out my guide to launching an online course for an in-depth walkthrough.
At a high level, here are the steps to creating a course launch plan:
- Select your launch channels: You first need to identify the channels to market your course on. Start by showing up where your audience is: that might be social media, podcasts, or Google ads. I recommend you start small with a few channels and then expand as you get more comfortable.
- Pre-sell the course (optional but recommended): With your channels identified, now it’s time to pre-sell your course. Pre-selling your course allows you to make sales before your launch, drum up interest, gauge demand, and collect feedback. You can start small by selling directly to your current network at a discount, or run a more sophisticated pre-selling sequence. Check out my guide to pre-selling an online course for a full walkthrough.
- Write a launch sequence: Once you’ve presold your course, now it’s time for the big launch. Your launch sequence will go out to your entire audience (and new leads you convert on your site). Check out my guide to writing a course launch sequence (with templates) for a complete walkthrough.
Then turn it on and share it with the world!
