How To Use PLR: Quickstart Guide To Growing Your Business With PLR

Ever daydreamed about bringing in a fresh stream of income for your business?

Whether you're a consultant or a coach, you're typically swapping your time for money. But how about selling a product that could scale infinitely and make you money while you sleep, instead of a service that only earns while you work?

From online courses to high-converting landing pages, digital (or informational) products can be the key that finally unlocks passive income streams for you and your business. The hitch? They usually need a significant investment of time to build from scratch.

I’m talking about hours, or even days, of work. Not to mention the money spent on software and equipment!

But… what if there was a product that required nothing more than your brand logo and a little tweaking to be market-ready?

Welcome to the world of PLR!

PLR or Private Label Rights content is your ready-made, easy-to-use (and sell) solution to propel your business. It's a wide-ranging term, covering everything from planners and worksheets to complete courses. This last category is where Content Sparks really shines.

PLR can be a godsend for businesses keen to sell digital or informational products but lack the know-how and time to launch them. If you're aiming to create a new source of passive income, add more value to your client base, or boost customer retention, PLR is the way to go.

What Is PLR?

PLR, short for Private Label Rights, is a nifty licensing deal that allows individuals to customize, rebrand, and sell content whipped up by someone else.

This concept originated in the informational product industry with resources like eBooks, articles, and videos. However, PLR has since evolved to incorporate a wide range of content, including planners, workbooks, blog posts, emails, and even comprehensive courses.

Now, the ultimate icing on the PLR cake is its flexibility. You see, the heavy-duty work of crafting the content is all done and dusted. That means you can roll up your sleeves and dive straight into the branding and selling part, including repurposing the content into different formats.

PLR products can be purchased individually or in bundled packages. I personally prefer to offer some of our products in bundles, providing you with all the necessary tools to successfully launch and deliver a course, thereby taking your business to greater heights.

The Benefits Of Using PLR

The idea of a plug-and-play course, blog post, or email series ready for you to sell might sound like an astounding deal. And don't get me wrong, it is. But let's not stop there. The world of PLR packs a punch with a whole lot more perks that deserve a shout-out.

Save Exponential Time

The foremost advantage of PLR is the considerable amount of time it saves. Creating a course can involve substantial time and effort, seriously racking up costs (I covered this in my online course cost guide). PLR is akin to a fast pass, leap-frogging you to the front of the queue by offering a finished product that only needs your branding and voice before you can start selling.

If you’re buying great PLR products (which I can assure you ours are), you can feel confident launching your course, eBook, or blog post to the world shortly after purchasing.

Launch More Products (And Make Money) Faster

It's a simple truth: the more products you launch, the more money you stand to make. If you can swiftly launch two or three courses in quick succession, your chances of generating passive income are significantly higher than if you spend months creating and launching a single course.

Be Seen As A Thought Leader (Without The Hard Work)

Becoming a thought leader in your industry makes converting leads to customers a natural process, with no “salesy” tactics needed. It also attracts potential partners to you like bees to honey. Who wouldn’t want that?

If you want to be seen as a true industry expert, then there are few better ways to accomplish that than a course. Sure, you’ll still need to regularly post valuable content on social media and build your visibility. But creating a course cements you in your customers’ and prospects’ minds as knowledgeable and someone worth paying attention to (not to mention paying a few dollars as well!).

The best part about PLR is that you can become (and stay) a thought leader, open up new streams of revenue, and literally make money while you sleep with minimal investment other than purchasing the course, swapping your logo, and adding a few of your own insights and stories. You can even use pieces of your PLR to feed that social media machine that helps your visibility as an expert.

  • Courses and Workshops: Comprehensive course packages ready to be customized and taught, saving you the time and effort of creating one from scratch.

  • Planners: Professionally designed planners to help your customers organize their learning process and implementation.
  • Blog Posts: Ready-to-publish blog posts, ideal for content marketing and establishing your online presence.
  • Emails: Pre-crafted email sequences perfect for marketing your courses, nurturing your leads, and boosting your customer engagement.
  • Worksheets, Assessments, and Quizzes: Essential tools for evaluating progress, enhancing comprehension, and boosting engagement during the learning process.

In addition to these, we also provide other PLR materials like social media posts, promotional videos, and lead magnets (like 5-Day Challenges) that cater to all your marketing needs. The ultimate goal is to ensure that you have everything necessary to launch, promote, and sell a successful course that significantly drives your business forward.

How to Brand PLR to Look Like Your Own

Once you have your PLR course/product, it’s time to brand it to look like your own before launching it to your audience.

Rebranding an entire product might sound complicated, but don’t fret. You can follow seven simple steps to brand your next PLR product.

1.  Read through the content
2.  Highlight edits to make
3.  Decide on a new title
4.  Make your edits everywhere
5.  Add your branding
6.  Break up content as needed
7.  Convert to PDF or other media

I’m going to run through the most important steps below, focusing primarily on white label, PLR Courses, since that’s our specialty at Content Sparks.

You can get the full PLR customization checklist here for everything you’ll need.

Read Through The Main Content and Highlight Edits to Make

While our PLR courses and products are always high quality, it’s important to dive headfirst into a product and poke around a bit to familiarize yourself with the material.

Get a feel for its layout, the standout points, and those little spots where you feel it could do with a bit of tweaking. This way, it'll sync up with the quality your audience has come to expect from your brand, which is undoubtedly top-notch!

Give It A Snazzy New Title

If you purchased a PLR course or other content, decide on a new title that fits with your branding, the context you'll use it in, and any changes you're planning to make.

For example, if you're planning on repurposing our Blogging Mastery course to be targeted to authors, you might change the name to ‘Blogging Mastery for Authors' (or something a little snazzier).

While you're working on any edits to the main content, you can outsource the creation of a branded eCover or other graphics for your new content at a place like Fiverr.com or Upwork.com.

Add Your Logo and Personalize

Time to break out your logo and get personalized.

Once you’ve switched up the product/content title, slap your logo on it, and give any other brand elements your own style. The aim of the game here is to have your audience look at the course and think "Aha! That's [insert your brand name here] content!". It's all about those associations in people’s minds!

Convert to PDF or Other Media

For anything that you’ll be sending or sharing with your audience, remember to save it  in a format that can’t be edited. So convert your PLR product to a PDF, slide deck, or series of videos before publishing. Blog posts, emails, and social media content doesn’t need to be converted since they aren’t downloadable (or shouldn’t be!)

But remember that if your students/readers/clients/subscribers or other audience member have editing ability, it violates your license terms.

What’s one of the most popular media formats to convert your PLR to? Video! It’s the best format for engaging your audience and creating a personal connecton.

If you purchased a PLR course from my shop, then recording videos for it can sound intimidating to first-time course creators. But I’ve got you covered. Check out my guides below for recording stunning course videos that will make you look like a seasoned pro:

Add or Update Course Resources

While my courses are always designed to be a complete learning experience, there might be areas you want to add a bit of pizazz or unique resources. The same goes for our other PLR content and products. That’s perfectly fine, and I always recommend customizing your content. It is yours now after all. So feel free to personalize it with your own examples and insights, update anything necessary, and add resources unique to your business as you see fit. You can even use an AI tool like ChatGPT to give you ideas for examples to swap out that resonate more with your audience!

I have an entire guide on how to add extra value to your PLR course, so be sure to check it out for ideas!

Launch on Your Platform

Now comes the grand finale – publishing and launching your PLR on your platform.

For PLR eBooks, planners, worksheets, challenges, or lead magnets - Google Drive is an excellent (free) option to safely store PDF files. I also use Dropbox, Amazon s3, and even my WordPress media library.

For online courses, if you have not chosen a platform to sell/deliver your online course then check out my complete guide to choosing an online course platform.

*Remember once again that your PLR materials must be uploaded in a non-editable format. If your students have edit access to your course materials then this violates the licensing terms.

And think again about those extra toppings. Add any resources or supplemental material that you feel would benefit your audience. It's all about helping them get the most out of the course, so additional reading materials, worksheets, checklists, quizzes – all those goodies – are prime contenders to include.

Here Are Some Resources to Help You Sell Your PLR Course
