How To Make Money Selling PLR Products

Hit a revenue hiccup or plateau in your business?

We’ve all been there. Whether you’re feeling stuck or just aren’t making the progress you wished for, it may be time to shake things up.

If you ask most business afficionados, they'll say, "Just sell more!" They make it sound so straightforward, right? But here's the catch: if you're running a services or coaching business, more clients equals more of your precious time gobbled up.

You need a revenue stream that grows without taking up your time.

Imagine a way to woo more customers, and grow your business even while you’re sleeping?

No, it’s not Amway or some other get-rich-quick scheme that promises you can rake in cash in a few clicks while you sit sipping margaritas on the beach. (Seen those ads? Don’t get taken in!)

I’m talking about selling PLR (private label rights) courses and products. Read on as I guide you through the magic of PLR products that will boost your bank balance, without breaking a sweat.

What Are PLR Products?

PLR, short for Private Label Rights, is a common type of licensing deal that allows you to customize, rebrand, and sell content whipped up by someone else.

You’ll see a lot of physical private label products sold on places like Amazon or in supermarkets. Those are products that are created by a supplier who sells it to you with the right to put your own label on them.

However, in the digital world, this concept originated with informational resources like eBooks, articles, and videos. Since then, PLR has evolved to incorporate a wide range of content, including planners, workbooks, assessments, emails, and even comprehensive courses.

Now, the ultimate icing on the digital PLR cake is its flexibility. Physical PLR products typically come as-is, and it’s difficult to customize them (if it’s even possible). But with the digital variety, the heavy-duty work of crafting the content is all done and dusted. Then you can easily take it from there, roll up your sleeves, and dive straight into the branding, tweaking, and selling part.

PLR products can be purchased individually or in bundled packages. I personally prefer to offer some of our products in bundles, providing you with all the necessary tools to successfully launch and deliver a course.

What Types of PLR Products Can You Sell?

Our shop at Content Sparks offers a wide range of PLR products, ensuring you have all the essential components to launch and sell a successful course. You can anticipate finding the following:

  • Courses and Workshops: Comprehensive course packages ready to be customized and taught, saving you the time and effort of creating one from scratch.
  • eBooks: Detailed and well-structured eBooks that can serve as standalone products. Many of these come with slides too, so you can deliver them as a Workshop or Webinar.
  • Planners: Professionally designed planners to help your customers organize their learning process and implementation.
  • Blog Posts: Ready-to-go blog posts, ideal for customizing for your content marketing and establishing your online presence.
  • Emails: Pre-crafted email sequences perfect for marketing your courses, nurturing your leads, and boosting your customer engagement.
  • Worksheets, Assessments, and Quizzes: Essential tools for pre-qualifying leads, evaluating progress, enhancing comprehension, and boosting engagement during the learning process.

In addition to these, we also provide other PLR materials like social media posts, sales page copy templates, and lead magnets (like 5-Day Challenges) that cater to all your marketing needs. The ultimate goal is to ensure that you have everything necessary to launch, promote, and sell a successful course that significantly drives your business forward.

Can You Actually Make Money Selling PLR?

You bet!

I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of amazing business owners just like you, and when they take action, each one has transformed their business by selling PLR courses and content. These are coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs, and professional service providers who unlocked new income streams for their businesses.

Don’t take my word for it, here’s what a few of my customers have said:

I instantly recognized the value

I wouldn't have a business without online courses. They have brought in at least half of my revenue each year. Now, I'll be able to create them faster and with even better quality.

My coaching really took off!

Once I started to seriously use content from Content Sparks, my coaching results really took off (I increased the number of coaching clients 200% over 18 months), raising my prices twice in that time. Coaching areas with the most impact on clients’ business are social media/blogging and the customer journey. Since moving into publishing courses, I’m seeing steady growth in the business growth offering I’m focused on growing. I’m happy to move from group coaching to online courses. I know it’s doable!

I would say that Content Sparks' professional done-for-you content is THE game changer

Using Content Sparks content helps you to position yourself as an expert. I was a guest speaker in a paid membership group recently. I used the slideshow from the Lead Generation materials in Promote and Market Your Business Book to speak to the authors in that group's audience. No one had any questions but they stated that the material was clear, easy to understand, and extremely helpful. They learned a lot and took notes! So now they are looking forward to my upcoming course about promoting and marketing their book. I will use the course content from the Blaze package and charge $297. (I gave the webinar attendees a discount, though!)

You've hit the jackpot with PLR, but wait, there's more! I’m not just tossing you the keys to the car without teaching you how to drive. Let's get you on cruise control with some expert tips and tricks.

How to Market Your PLR Content

PLR is your secret weapon for whipping up content faster than your competitors, but you still need to hustle and sell the courses and products that you purchase. This is where you should be spending most of your time. I have two major marketing tips that will set you up for success and help you grow your audience (and business).

Build a Strong Email List

If your business was a party, think of your email list as the VIP section. No engaged list? You're facing an uphill climb in flip-flops. No matter what industry you are in, you absolutely need an email list to nurture and sell to.

Building a list from scratch though? That gets difficult, so here are my three best tips for quickly growing your list:

  • Content Goodies & Lead Magnets: Offer bonus content (think downloadable PDFs) for a simple email sign-up. Checklists, worksheets, resource lists, templates, guides – get creative! Did you know you can purchase lead magnets from my shop too?
  • Pop-Ups & Slide-Ins: Time those pop-ups like a maestro. Capture visitors before they flee your site. Or maybe slide-ins and notification bars? Less in-your-face but just as effective. You may have already seen one of these on our site.
  • Webinars & Virtual Hangouts: Similar to the lead magnet, this is an exclusive offer you make to visitors on your website if they register with an email address. Team up with big names in your industry to pull in a crowd. It’s more work, but will give you the most visibility and engagement in a world that’s become less and less personal.

Gathering email addresses is step one, step two is promotion - to your list of course, as well as other marketing channels that I’ll show you next.

Promote Your Products Across Channels

Creating a course can be easy if you purchase a pre-made course ready to be sold, but promoting and marketing a course? That’s the hard part - if you don’t have the right channels lined up.

Even the most seasoned of course-sellers get a bit nervous at the thought of starting a new launch. Fortunately, there is a variety of course promotion tactics at your disposal to make promoting, launching, and selling your course a breeze once you get the hang of it.

  • Social Media: Tailor content for platform specifics, utilize targeted ads, and engage in relevant groups/communities.
  • Email Marketing: Remember that list you built? Send regular newsletters, run segmented campaigns, and automate drip campaigns introducing your course.
  • Content Marketing & SEO: Publish related blog posts, guest write for niche websites, and optimize course pages for search engines.
  • Affiliate & Partnerships: Set up affiliate programs with influencers, engage in complementary partnerships, and collaborate for cross-promotions.

This is just a snapshot of a larger marketing strategy you’ll want to put together to promote your courses and products. Get the full list of my 19 favorite course promotion tactics and channels for more information!

Sales Tips to Sell Your PLR Content

Marketing and promotion help you build the audience, now you need to sell.

Some PLR bundles will include sales emails and pages that give you a major head start. If you don’t have those handy, here are my best tips to jumpstart your sales and ensure your course is a success out of the gate.

Pre-sell Before Launching

Pre-selling just may be more important than the official launch of your course. Here’s why:

  • Pre-selling creates buzz. There’s nothing like a good buzz to pick up sales, and pre-selling does just that. By making an exclusive offer to your list with a sweet discount, suddenly your course will seem more urgent and attractive to your audience.
  • It generates revenue upfront. Selling a course can be a lengthy process, but the time pressure of pre-selling means you’ll generate a higher volume of sales early. You can invest this into the course content, or put it towards a bigger marketing launch.
  • You can validate your course idea. Pre-selling is a fantastic way to get some early validation on your course from a small audience. Make sure you ask for feedback and take it to heart when you launch the course to a broader audience.
  • You’ll gather testimonials. This is the biggie. There is no better salesperson than a happy customer, and pre-selling could give you a bundle of customer testimonials to feature on your website and course sales page.

Throw all of these benefits together and you have a winning recipe for a course launch that will propel your business to the next level. Preselling is so important, I wrote a deep dive guide into how to pre-sell a course so check it out for more info!

Optimize Your Sales Page to Convert

After all this hard work, the last thing you want is to have a bounce rate on your sales page north of 80%. (Those are the people who arrive on your page and immediately ‘bounce’ and go somewhere else.)

A clear and compelling sales page will be your best asset when it comes to converting visitors who make their way through your funnel and become paying students and customers. There is a lot that goes into creating a course sales page so check out my full guide, but for starters, you will need to break your sales page into the following sections:

  • Headline: You need a clear and concise headline that entices your reader to keep scrolling down the page (where they will purchase).
  • Course description: Every sales page needs a course description so your audience knows what they’ll learn when they enroll and how valuable it is. Aside from a short description of the outcome, you should also list the curriculum. Many course platforms with built-in sales pages have a block that you can drag and drop right into your page.
  • Case studies: Case studies, testimonials, and other forms of social proof go a long way to motivating your customers to make a purchase.
  • CTAs (calls to action): Asking for the sale might seem intimidating, but you need to do it… a lot! CTAs throughout the page will catch your reader’s eye and encourage them to purchase.
  • Instructor bio: Your customers want to know who is buying from them, so a quick bio does the trick to introduce yourself and establish a personal connection with your audience.
  • FAQs: Any information that does not fit the above is usually a good candidate for the FAQ section. Here you can address common questions and include information that may be helpful but does not fit into the above categories.

Remember, selling PLR isn't just a sprint; it's a marathon with twists and turns. But with these tips, you'll be at the finish line in no time. Then, the next time you sell a course, the path will become ever shorter and smoother.
