How to Choose PLR Products to Sell

You’re ready to scale your coaching/consulting business with ready-to-sell PLR digital products, but there’s one more step: you need to choose one.

Like selecting jam from the grocery store, there are dozens of websites and hundreds of products to choose from. Which company will you purchase from? And of the 12 different types of products they offer, where will you start?

Decisions like these are enough to make even the most seasoned coaches close their computers and see what’s streaming on Netflix. Don’t let decision fatigue stop you from scaling your business, though. In this guide, I’ll help you choose the right PLR products to create irresistible offers that help you generate passive income for your business.

Why Sell PLR

PLR (private label rights) allows you to purchase ready-to-sell digital products and tweak them to match your brand before selling them as your own. It’s a fantastic way to generate customized content quickly, but there are a few other great reasons to sell PLR:

  • Saves time: Ready-made content saves hours of time compared to creating digital products and courses from scratch (even if you’re using AI!) This allows you to focus on marketing and client relationships rather than content creation (ie. things that make more money).
  • Lower upfront costs: Creating a course can cost thousands of dollars compared to PLR, which could cost hundreds at the most. This frees you up to invest more in customizing and promoting your content, which means a stronger launch and better profit margins.
  • Quickly test offers: Because PLR saves you time and money, you can use it to quickly test and compare offers to see what works best with your audience. You can purchase PLR products in various niches, rebrand them, and test launches before investing in developing your own specialized content for promising areas.

PLR is a fantastic way to save time and make more money, so read on as I share where to buy the best PLR products and how to choose the right ones for your business.

Where to Buy PLR

First, you need to know where you will buy your PLR products from.

Of the dozens of PLR sites out there, I’ve curated the best ones for you to choose from, all of which I’m familiar with and know the owners. These sites all show a commitment to creating products for different niches and selling high-quality PLR content as opposed to low-quality products that are more trouble than they are worth.

  • 1. Content Sparks: ContentSparks is my PLR website and shop, so I can readily vouch for the care and quality that we putinto every single one of my PLR products. Like you, I’m a business owner. I’m also a passionate learner who is fanatical about well-written content, hates to waste time, and loves to share my knowledge with others. I’m no stranger to building successful businesses and high-quality content: I’ve spent over 30 years creating marketing and training programs for Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and entrepreneurs.
  • 2. Tools for Motivation: Tools for Motivation focuses on the self-help community by offering courses, eBooks, articles, videos, audio, and more. I’ve known and recommended Justin and his team since I first started my own PLR business back in 2011.
  • 3. Plr.me: PLR.me is another hugely popular PLR website that covers a wide variety of self-help topics and niches, from relationships and spirituality to business and finance. I’ve also known Ronnie Nijmeh, the owner, since I first started my own PLR business.
  • 4. ThriveAnywhere: ThriveAnywhere specializes in beautiful planners and coaching materials in different formats that cover a variety of PLR topics ranging from business skills to productivity and parenting. Lynette is an expert at designing professional-looking content.

Start with one of these, and you can’t go wrong. Once you've selected a site, now it’s time to review their products and choose one – I’ll show you how to do that next.

How to Choose PLR Products to Sell

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you are faced with dozens of products. Should you buy the “goal-setting masterclass” or the “goal-setting journal?” It all depends on your audience, their problem, and how the offer fits in with the rest of your funnel.

To make it easier, I like to break down the process of choosing a product into three steps:

  • Choose a topic
  • Choose a product type
  • Customize and sell

Choose a Topic

First, you need to choose a topic.

Think of the topic as the over-arching umbrella that all of your offers live under. It should be directly related to your business. For example, if you are a social media marketer, then your topic should be “social media” or niched down a bit into “Instagram.”

If you are a business coach, then you could have multiple topics like “growth” or “mindset.” When all else fails, review the problems you solve for your clients and start there.

If you get stumped, I find the following questions are helpful to ask:

  • Who is your audience?
  • What problems do they have?
  • Are there gaps in the market?
  • What solution can you offer? (brainstorm topics)
  • Which solutions will your audience pay the most for?

Choose a Product Type

Once you’ve chosen a topic, now let’s niche down into a specific type of product.

Whether you need a low-ticket offer or a premium product, chances are you can find one that matches the interests of your audience. Some popular PLR categories include:

My recommendation is to choose the offers you want to create under that topic and let that guide you. Low-ticket offers will cover smaller products like workbooks, planners, and lead magnets, while big-ticket offers will include courses and curriculums or bundle together several different products.

Customize and Sell

All of the PLR products in my shop are guaranteed to be high-quality, but that doesn’t mean they will automatically sound like you. We have to deliberately keep them generic, mainly for small business owners and entrepreneurs, so that you can easily customize to your audience.

Take some time to infuse your voice, unique expertise, and methodology into the content. Include your personal case studies, client success stories, and specific frameworks that set you apart. Where necessary, replace generic advice with actionable strategies you've personally tested with clients.

With one purchase, you may have a year’s worth of content (or more). Now it’s time to launch your new products to build a new passive income stream for your business.

First, you need a winning sales page that turns readers into buyers. Then, build your audience and promote your new line of digital offers. You might want to try preselling your products to drum up interest and get early feedback or follow a traditional launch sequence.
